The limit isn't the target
Hitting the character limit is rarely the problem. The problem is that only the first line or so shows before the caption gets cut off, and that's all most people read. Put the hook, the offer or the question in that first line, and treat everything after it as a bonus.
The same goes for the video. The first three seconds decide whether anyone reads the caption at all. If you're writing openers, try the UGC hook generator.
Running a branded or paid post?
In Australia, a paid or gifted partnership has to be disclosed clearly in the content itself, early in the caption or on screen. A disclosure buried at the end of a hashtag stack isn't enough. Our AANA disclosure guide covers what counts.
